ABOUT US
The California Music Coalition is a project of over 20 record labels from across the state in opposition to proposals that would dictate the terms of record contracts by statute. Similar to legislation proposed and rejected in the early 2000s (SB 1246), in 2021 (AB 1385), and earlier this year in the Assembly (AB 2926), that would have fundamentally altered recording contracts to benefit only the most successful acts, AB 983 would destabilize California’s music industry, reduce opportunities for working artists, and slow our state’s economic recovery. The California Music Coalition will continue to protect California's world-class music community by opposing these proposals.
